The Emeritus National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Hon. Barr. Alabi Kolade David, has joined global leaders in extending Easter greetings to Christians worldwide, calling for renewed commitment to unity, peace, and national transformation.

In a message marking the Easter celebration, Kolade David reflected on the enduring significance of the season, describing it as a symbol of hope, salvation, and spiritual renewal. He noted that the triumph of life over death, central to Easter, serves as a powerful reminder that nations can overcome adversity and emerge stronger.

The former ALGON leader commended Christians in Lagos State for their steadfast faith and contributions to national development, urging Nigerians across states, local governments, and area councils to embrace the values of love, forgiveness, and compassion exemplified by Jesus Christ.

He also lauded the state’s progress in promoting interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence, expressing optimism about Nigeria’s potential for sustained growth and prosperity if unity is prioritized.

“Easter reminds us that faith is active, resilient, and transformative. Just as the stone was rolled away, so too must we remove the barriers of mistrust and division to unlock the nation’s immense potential,” he said.

Kolade David further praised the resilience of Nigerian Christians, acknowledging their role in sustaining communities through difficult times. He encouraged them to continue serving as agents of reconciliation and pillars of peace in an increasingly divided world.

Highlighting the importance of grassroots governance, he emphasized the role of local governments as key drivers of unity and development. He noted that the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, if effectively implemented at the local level, would strengthen Nigeria’s leadership and cohesion.

The ALGON chieftain also underscored the significance of grassroots diplomacy, stating that local councils can project Nigeria’s goodwill and foster stronger ties within and beyond the country.

Concluding his message, Kolade David described Easter as more than a religious observance, but a call to national rebirth.

“Easter is a covenant of renewal. It challenges us to rise above the ordinary and embrace acts of compassion, service, and unity. As Nigeria navigates its challenges, this season should inspire a collective commitment to rebuild, reconcile, and move forward together as one people destined for greatness,” he stated.
