Peter Obi Announces Dr. Yunusa Tanko as Interim National Coordinator of Obidient Movement

Former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has announced Dr. Yunusa Tanko as the Interim National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide. The announcement was made during an X space meeting where Obi expressed his gratitude to the team that managed the consultation process and the over 165 people who submitted their ideas and suggestions.

Obi emphasized that the movement is committed to ensuring that every member is heard and included as they build their structure. He encouraged everyone to participate in the regional consultations and announced that Dr. Tanko emerged as the most nominated candidate for the role of National Coordinator after extensive consultations.

“We received a wide range of insights such as ideas on building an inclusive structure with a strong grassroots presence, leveraging technology to optimize our operations and secure our votes, and innovative suggestions for grassroots mobilization. Indeed, we have brilliant minds in our movement, and this was evident in the quality of the ideas we received,” Obi said.

Obi clarified that all positions filled at this stage are on an interim basis until the structure is fully developed and called for nominations from the community for key positions. He emphasized the need for unity and participation, encouraging every member to engage with the consultation team and contribute to the ongoing conversation.

“I want to sincerely thank everyone who showed up at the engagement meeting they recently held. I also want to thank the team for how fast they moved the conversation and the consultation process,” Obi said.

Dr. Tanko, in his remarks, thanked Obi for the opportunity to serve and pledged to work tirelessly to build a Nigeria that works for everyone.
