A devastating attack by rampaging bandits on Galadimawa Village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State has left the community reeling.
The bandits, who struck on Tuesday, August 21, 2024, at approximately 11:30 pm, abducted the second wife of the village head, Alhaji Aliyu Haruna Galadimawa, and two of his children.
According to the Sarkin Fada of Galadimawa, Hussaini Umar, the bandits stormed the village head’s residence in large numbers, seeking to kidnap him.
However, upon failing to find their target, they took his second wife and two children instead. The attackers ransacked the entire house, including the ceiling, after breaking through the wall.
The community is in a state of confusion and disarray, with Umar appealing to the government to intervene and save Galadimawa village from the relentless attacks.
He emphasized that the villagers are tired of being kidnapped and attacked repeatedly, with about 20 surrounding villages already displaced to Galadimawa due to insecurity.
The Kaduna State Police Command has yet to react to the incident, as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Munsir Hassan, was unreachable at the time of filing this report.
This latest attack highlights the escalating insecurity in Kaduna State, with Galadimawa village being a recurring target for bandits.
The community’s pleas for help and protection from the government have become increasingly urgent, as they struggle to cope with the trauma and displacement caused by these relentless attacks.
