(VIDEO) Tinubu’s Connection In Mahmood Yakubu’s Appointment As INEC Chairman – Amaechi Reveals

Immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has revealed that the person who nominated Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is from the political camp of the President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a viral video obtained Amaechi a former two-term governor of Rivers State who contested the presidential primary alongside Tinubu in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also said he was one of those who opposed the reappointment of the INEC Chairman by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In his words “I am not the president. I have spoken with everybody concerned before the election. There are those of us who opposed the reappointment of Mahmood Yakubu as INEC chairman. The person who nominated him for the appointment is a member of Tinubu’s camp. So what are you expecting? Success?”

Also speaking on the election in Rivers state, Amaechi said “Here in Rivers State, Mahmood worked under (Governor Nyesom) Wike as Executive Secretary of TETFUND so what you see here in Rivers state is that APC, SDP and the rest are contesting election not against PDP – against INEC, against police.”

He noted that the actions of the Rivers State governor was because of the total failure of governance in the country.However, Governor Wike, who was accredited at his Obio Akpor Ward 9 Unit 7 and voted at 11:16 am, said, “I can say they (INEC) have done very well, unlike what we had on 25 February. They have improved more than what we had in February.”
