As ban on political campaigns is billed to be lifted later in the month ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Thursday commissioned a multi-billion naira national secretariat in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The event attracted eminent Nigerians, including former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and ex-national chairman of the party, Chief Olu Falae; former Education Minister, Professor Tunde Adeniran, incumbent national chairman, Shehu Gabam and Presidential candidate of the party, Adewole Adebayo.

Prince Adebayo said “the SDP is bringing to Nigerians victory and prosperity” if elected president come 2023.

He charged Nigerians to fight poverty, noting that “poverty is ungodly and unnatural. If we don’t fight poverty, it will produce children which is insecurity.”

He added that the SDP is a Youth Oriented party and therefore Nigerian youths should vote for SDP in 2023 elections.

He reiterated that his running mate, a banker Mr Yusuf Salisu Buhari is a youth.

“SDP has a young person as the National Chairman” in respect of Mr Shehu Gabam, and he informed Nigerians that “the opportunity you have been looking for is in SDP”, the presidential candidate said.

In a brief remark shortly before cutting the tape, Falae described SDP as the only political party in the land and others as “opportunists aiming to grab power” for their selfish interest.

Falae called on party members to eschew divisions within their ranks saying, “we need to manage our problems. Politics is a number game.

“I was in a party called the Alliance for Democracy (AD). We had a lot of issues and people went to court. Such a thing will not happen here. We have no factions and there are no litigations”, the former AD presidential candidate in 1999 said.
