The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has, in a leaked memo, revealed that two separate bandits groups are plotting coordinated attacks on North West, North Central and South West,

The memo, addressed to all commands of the NSCDC, dated July 25 and sighted by Kaftanpost’s correspondent yesterday listed Lagos, Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna and Kogi states as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as targeted places.

The memo was signed by the Deputy Commandant General, Operations, D. D. Mungadi.

“Consequently, the Commandant-General has directed you to scale up deployment in all strategic places, including schools, worship centres and critical national assets in your respective states, to checkmate any possible threats by these criminal elements. Please treat it as urgent,” the memo said.

In the memo, the NSCDC said it had received credible intelligence that Boko Haram and Islamic State for West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists had mobilised their fighters and deployed high calibre weapons like anti-aircraft guns, general purpose machine guns, among others, to attack Katsina State.

However, the spokesperson of the NSCDC, Shola Odumosu, when contacted, told our correspondent that the leaked report did not emanate from Corps.

“There’s no any memo in that regard,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, yesterday asked Abuja residents to cooperate with his officers in the Intelligence Bureau to fortify the FCT against terrorists.

In a statement by the Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP said the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) had been charged to collaborate with residents to ward off the adversaries threatening to bring down the country.

ABUJA BUSINESS REPORTS observed that there has been increased stop and search operations by security agencies in the FCT.

Military personnel and police operatives are seen at various FCT locations at night, stopping and questioning motorists.

Some of the operations have led to random traffic holdups at some areas in the FCT.
