The Speaker Of Imo State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Chidozie Ibeh has described children as godly, young and beautiful creatures created through their parents, by Almighty God.

In his 2022 Children’s Day message, Hon. Ibeh urged relevant agencies to ensure cases of Child Abuse, Child trafficking etc are reduced, if not eliminated.

According to him, “Children’s Day as celebrated in Nigeria on May 27 yearly, is dedicated to celebrating Children globally, and for adults to remember their childhood adventures and experiences.

“It is also a Day we leaders, Parents and Guardians compulsorily use to reflect on our Commitment, Responsibilities and Roles towards our children, and assessing how we have fared.

“The Imo State House Of Assembly has passed Bills and Motions to enhance Quality Education to our children, and this have gone a very long way in recording several academic successes for them, both in the State and beyond, thereby, preparing them for future leadership.

“Also, we have passed Bills and Motions that have considerably put a stop to the use of hard drug-related substances, such as, cocaine, heroine, Mkpurunmiri etc, which have been destroying the future of many children in the society.

“To this end therefore, I encourage our children to remain focussed on pursuing their God’s given dreams, visions and talents, while at the same time shunning cultism, drug-related habits, crimes etc, which have been destroying their potentials and future.

“Since Child Abuse and Child trafficking are on the increase, I most humbly call on relevant agencies to rescue the situation by eliminating it, or at least, reducing it considerably. Our Children are our future, it is our responsibilities as leaders, Parents and Guardians to protect them”, the Imo Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh, concluded.
