Katsina State Government Restates Commitment to Improved MSME

Katsina state Government has said it will put more effort in the improvement Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) across the state for efficiency of Business management.

The state Deputy Governor, Qs Mannir Yakubu made the renewed commitment while while declaring open a two days workshop strengthening the capacity of Katsina State Micro and Medium Enterprises Council members at Kano.

The Deputy Governor said the workshop will focus on areas like dialogue with development partners, sourcing donor resources, planning and financial management , knowledge of MSME council, as well as leveraging on the opportunity provide by the African continental free trade Area for MSME development.

The Deputy Governor Mannir Yakubu who is also the chairman of the council have achieved so much in the area of MSME development through the collaboration with federal MDAs and private sector, stake holders.

He highlight some of the achievement which include, collaboration with Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) to organise training on tiger nut value chain for women in Katsina State, and
Workshop on investment opportunities on some strategic crops and safe use of pesticides and agro-chemicals to farmers.

Other achievement include Securing and the distribution of varieties of cashew and cotton seedlings to farmers in the state, Support to the state steering committee on survival fund and Support to the federal Government effort on ease of doing business.

Part of the achievents were collaboration with standards organization of Nigeria SoN on certification of some establishment of the state Government and SMEs in the construction industry and Securing the allocation of land and certificate of occupancy for the permanent office complex for the standard organization of Nigeria SON.

The deputy Governor added that another achievement include Securing the allocation of land and certificate of occupancy to federal ministry of industry trade and investment/NEPZA for the establishment of Funtua integrated textiles and garment parks among others.
