There was yet another failed attempt by the embattled Chairman of Suleja Local Government Area, Abdullahi Maje, in company of thugs and some agents to break into the national headquarters of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Abuja on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

The foiled attempt was part of his renewed campaign against the leadership of ALGON National President, Hon Alabi Kolade David, who was unanimously re-elected for a second term by the ALGON General Assembly on March 24, 2021 at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.

Abdullahi Maje, who is not a member of the ALGON’s National Executive Council (NEC), on Tuesday afternoon at about 3:30pm attempted to forcefully and illegally take over ALGON National Headquarters in company of his thugs and some agents.

It was gathered that the Management and Staff of ALGON were attending to their duties and schedules at their various desks when some unidentified men in their numbers accompanied by a cameraman tried to forcefully gain entrance into ALGON National Secretariat with one sacked staff simply identified as Mr. Leonard and who is popularly known as ‘Papee’.

He was said to be the same sacked staff of ALGON who led the first botched action in the ALGON headquarters.

He has since been whisked away by some security operative who intervened.

Abdullahi Maje was said to had appointed himself as Chairman of ALGON Interim Management Committee (IMC), an organ which is said to be nonexistent in ALGON constitution.

He had on March 29, 2021 obtained an order of the court restraining the ALGON General Assembly from holding an election already concluded on March 24.

It will be recalled that in filing the Suit and obtaining the Court Order, Mohammed Abubakar misled the Federal High Court into believing he had the consent and authority of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Board of Trustees to file the suit in Court.

Following the same pattern of disdain for judicial proceedings, Abdullahi Maje was said to have continued to misrepresent the contents of the Order to the general public!

Regarding the Order, Hon Abdullahi S. Maje had falsely claimed, amongst other things, that: The Hon. Judge restrained Hon. Alabi Kolade David from acting as the National President of ALGON; that the Hon. Judge directed the inauguration of an Interim Management Committee (IMC) for ALGON.

In obtaining the Order, Abdullahi S. Maje and his Co-traveller, Mohammed Abubakar, was reported to have also misled the men and officers of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command into believing the Court Order empowered them to take over ALGON.

Arising from it’s sitting on Friday, 23 July 2021, the Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Hon. Justice I. E Ekwo had fixed October 11, 2021 for the Motion to set aside the Order of 29th March 2021 obtained and bandied about by one Mohammed Abubakar and his collaborator, Hon. Abdullahi Maje, the Suleja Local Government Chairman.

However, rather than wait for the judgment of the court on October 11, 2021, Abdullahi Maje led a team of thugs in their numbers to sack the incumbent National President of ALGON and the Management team.

Members of the ALGON NEC and several council chairman have continued to dissociate themselves from the said Interim Management Committee (IMC), Abdullahi Maje, and his collaborators.
