CITAD Boss Yau Bags 2021 Literary Personality of the Year Award

Dr. Yunusa Z. Yau,  the Director of the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has been named 2021 literary personality of the year.

He was announced as the winner during the closing ceremony of the second edition of the jewel writing workshop 2021 held at Sheikh Jaafar Mahmud Adam, Gwallaga Central Mosque, Bauchi state.

Asabe M. Muhammad, a professor at Bauchi state university, Gadau, who presented the award to Mr. Yau on behalf of the jewel writing workshop organisers said “My director sir, we are going to present you this  token of appreciation by the organisers of the jewel writing workshop and award of honour to you, Dr. Yunusa Z. Yau as the literary personality of the year 2021.”

Responding to winning the award, Dr. Yau expressed his appreciation over winning the award. 

Jewel writing workshop is convened by Adamu Usman Garko, Gombe award winning teenage author.

Dr. Yunusa Z. Yau,  the Director of the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has been named 2021 literary personality of the year.During the closing ceremony of the event, CITAD boss provided seven copies of different books authored by him (Dr. Y. Z. Yau) and other veteran writers to all participants, facilitators and organisers.

“Apart from being the sole sponsor of jewel writing workshop 2021, CITAD under the auspicious and good leadership of Dr. Y. Z. Yau also provided seven different copies of rich and qualitative books for each of the participants, facilitators and organisers.” said Garko.

“The closing ceremony was a huge success. I pray may Allah grant the participants the wherewithal to continue to honour their writing skills for the betterment of humanity.” he added.

Musa Ishaq, one of the 30 participants, took to his Facebook timeline and expressed his excitement for taking part in this year’s edition of the annual workshop.

“Am so elated for this wonderful gift. Dear jewel writing workshop organisers, more particularly the convener, Adamu Usman Garko, a word cannot express how I feel deep inside my mind. I will just say thanks for the mentorship.” he said.

Umar Saleh Gwani, a creative writer and ICT expert, was also a guest speaker at the closing ceremony of the workshop, took the participants on his writing journey and encouraged young creative minds to be good readers.

“Every year I set a target on the number of books I want to read regardless of area of specialisation. You don’t make money selling books but you make money by writing good stories that win award.” he stated.

Other dignitaries present were Aliyu Haidar of Haidar care foundation, Sumayya Al-Mansur, a spoken word artist/poet and many other writers.

CITAD is the sole sponsor of the jewel writing workshop both in 2020 and 2021.
