The Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Hon. Mamman Nda Eri has released guidelines on the scheduled local government area elections, restating that the polls will take place on December 12, 2020.
In a notice issued on Monday by the state electoral umpire, KOSIEC noted that accreditation and voting shall carried out simultaneously, from 8:00am to 3pm.
All citizens of Kogi State were advised to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner as security agencies have been requested to maintain adequate security throughout the period.
In his words, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri stated “Accreditation and voting shall be done simultaneously and shall start by 8:00am on the 12th December, 2020 and close at 3:00 on the same day to give room for collation of votes.
“All movements shall be restricted except for those on essential and election duties.
“Businesses/markets/shops shall remain closed within the stipulated election period.
“Voting shall take place at all designated polling stations; loitering shall not be tolerated at polling zones.
“At this juncture, security agencies are requested to maintain adequate security throughout the period.
“The State Independent Electoral Commission wishes all a peaceful election, but shall not hesitate to countermand the polls where security is breached”, the KOSIEC Chairman warned.
