Imo Diasporans Key Into SDG Projects Inspired By Governor Uzodimma

The current SDG Governor of the year in Nigeria, Senator Hope Uzodimma has set the tone for ‘Clean Water’ Project amongst other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Imo State.

This development has motivated Imo State Indigenes abroad otherwise referred to Imo Diasporans to key into the Governor’s ‘rehabilitation’ vision for the state.

Over the weekend, the office of the Governor on Diaspora Affairs supported three different events; the first being a huge medical outreach in Ideato and the commissioning of fully equipped boreholes at two different locations in Mbaitoli Local Government Area.

All of the projects were sponsored by Chief Festus Uzoma Mbisiogu, an Imo Diasporan resident in China, through his nongovernmental organisation, the Uzotex Charity Foundation (UCF).

The Imo Diasporan, who spoke to journalists at the events, explained that he does not hail from Mbaitoli where the projects were located, but has a thriving business there.

He acknowledged that the people of Mbaitoli have been very welcoming and his business has never suffered from any vandalism in the State.

According to him, the least “I can simply do is to execute my company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), so we decided to provide clean water for the people who live around here.”

The Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Cllr. Celia Osakwe-Hibbert who addressed the crowd at the three events and stated that “the 3R Administration (of Governor Hope Uzodinma) will deepen its partnership with Imo Diasporans so as to leverage on investments, business networks, entrepreneurship, volunteerism, mentorship, best practices, and skills transfer.

“Diasporans remain key players in sustainable development and I’m pleased that my Boss, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State is inspiring well-meaning Imolites towards this direction”.

The SA Diaspora also officially represented the Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa who is in charge of all Diaspora Affairs the country expressed the NiDCOM as the Special Guest of Honour.

The NiDCOM boss in her speech commended the continued efforts of Diasporans in homeland development.

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa ended her speech with the passionate words that “Success in life is not about your net worth but about how many lives you are able to touch…”
