Unknown Gunmen Invade Polytechnic, Abduct Lecturer, 2 Others

Yet to identified armed men were reported to have invaded an official staff quarters at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna State, and abducted three persons, and shot one.

A source at the Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, who refused to disclose his name, noted that on Saturday at about 9.00pm the gummen invaded the quarters and started shooting sporadically.

Residents were said to have ran for their lives in directions before it became clearer on Sunday morning that three persons were kidnapped, while one was shot.

The Rector of the school, Engineer Kabir Abdullahi who confirmed the incident explained that the bandits gained entrance into the school around 9pm on Saturday.

“I was in Kaduna when the Chief Security Officer of the college called and informed me about the attack.

“It is true that suspected armed bandits have kidnapped one of my staff, Engineer Bello Atiku who is the Head of Department, Computer Engineering of the school.

“He was kidnapped along with two children to an unknown destination,” he told newmen.

The rector further confirmed that, one of the staff, Sunusi Hassan, was shot in the hand as he narrowly escaped being kidnapped by the gumen, adding that he has been rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State Command, ASP Muhammed Jalige, said the police were on top of the situation.
