The Organising Committee of the 3rd Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit has announced the indefinite postponement of the event earlier scheduled to hold November 6 and 7, 2020.
A statement signed by the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Dr. Badewa Adejugbe-Williams attributed the postponement to “the current situation in the country”.
Abuja Business Reports, recalls that in the past few days, there have been agitation by young people for police reform in the country spearheaded by the #EndSARS Movement.
The statement postponing the event reads: “In the light of the current situation in the country, the Organising Committee of the 3rd Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit regretfully informs the general public, in particular, all registered participants and invited guests, that this event has been postponed.
“A new date will be announced as soon as possible. Please stay tuned
to our website: www.ndis.gov.ng for further updates.
“We join all well-meaning people in commiserating with all those
injured and those who lost their properties, while praying for the
peaceful repose of all who have died during the protests as well as for
peace to reign in our beloved country”.
The 2nd Nigeria of the Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) was held in 2019. It was convened by Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in collaboration with Nigeria Diaspora and Alumni Network (NIDAN).
The Summit was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Nigeria Investment Promotion Council (NIPC), Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), and Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).
This 2-day Summit was aimed at creating an avenue for prospective, meaningful and sustainable Diaspora Investment to be relied upon to boost economic growth in Nigeria.
The 2020 edition hat sat its theme “Post Covid Economic Resurgence: Targeting Diaspora Investment”.
It was scheduled online with keynote speakers, discussions, meeting rooms and exhibition hall, all hosted live on a virtual platform, which is free to attend anywhere in the world.
The 3rd Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) 2020 is convened by Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI) in collaboration with Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).
The 2020 Virtual Summit will also showcase the investment opportunities and development framework put in place to make investing in Nigeria more attractive to Nigeria Diaspora investors.
