Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has scored yet another goal after a successful hosting of the Second National Summit of State Diaspora Focal Point Officers comprising Commissioners, Special Advisers, Director Generals, and Coordinators, from all over the States who oversee aspects of Diaspora Matters.

The event held in the country’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja with about two third of the states’ representatives in attendance.

The Summit was a stock-taking and consolidation, charting a way forward for National Development.

The Chairman/CEO, NIDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa reminded participants of the critical role in attracting Diaspora investment into the country.

The Chief of Mission, International Organisation for Migration noted that one of the Summit’s goals is to advocate the speedy validation and approval of the National Diaspora Policy by the Federal Executive Council.

Some of the State Diaspora Focal Point Officers gave their scorecards since the inaugural summit earlier this year.

The Summit was sponsored by European Union – IOM Project on Migrant reintegration.

The Imo State Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma, Hon. Cllr. Cilia Osakwe-Hibbert, who arrived Abuja a day before the event, told Abuja Business Reports that the event was a success, praising Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa for her resilience in pursuit of the overall well-being of Nigeria in Diaspora and harnessing them for national development.
