Katsina State Government has flagged off the distribution of palliative to over 67,000 vulnerable households across the 34 local governments in the State.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari said each of the beneficiaries will receive 10kg of maize, 10kg of rice, 5kg of sugar, 1kg of salt, 1 carton of supehgettee and 2 cartons of indomie noodles.
The Governor was speaking during the distribution of food palliatives donated to State by private sector coalition against covid-19 (CACOViD) at the premises of central stores katsina said the gesture from coalition against covid 19 organization would provide the needed succour to the vulnerable families in the state.
Masari assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure that food items reached the targeted vulnerable families.
He said that the implementation committee will be headed by himself to ensure justice, equity and fairness in the distribution of the palliative.
The Governor revealed that similar committees have been constituted in the 34 local government headed by the Director of administration.
Masari expressed gratitude for the donation aimed at improving the well being of the vulnerable and less privileged families in the state.
The State Deputy Governor Mannir Yakubu who is also the Chairman of the task force committee said the State Government has received 428,110 out 469,742 assorted food items donated to the State by the CACOVID.
He assured the distribution will be made to the vulnerable families in the state.
Yakubu further explained that since the emergence of covid 19 pandemic in the State and the Nation in general an unprecedented solidarity and cooperation between the private sector, federal and state government towards addressing or mitigating the negatives effect of corvid 19 pandemic in the country.
He said that the CACOVID has made two donation of hospital equipments and materials that facilitate take off of one of our isolation center and the donation af assorted food items for distribution to 67,106 vulnerable households across the 4 local government areas of the state.
The State Deputy Governor Mannir Yakubu said in line with CACOVID guidelines and the state government efforts to ensure that a robust implementation committee was put in place, His Excellency the Governor accepted to chair the State Implementation Committee with membership drawn from relevant government Agencies, communities and civil society organization.
He said that, similarly, local government implementation committee have been constituted to undertake the distribution of food relief items at the grassroots level, also included in the local government implementation committees are members who will monitor the distribution of the palliatives.
He appreciates the kind gesture and contribution of assistance received from individuals and corporate organizations both in cash and kind by the State COVID 19 emergency response committee in the fight against the pandemic which is commendable and already being mentioned all the donor name in all our activities.
