The kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced that this year’s hajj 1441/2020 will be performed by only local pilgrims in limited number, international pilgrims will not attend this year’s pilgrimage.
This decision is taken in consideration of the world wide spread of coronavirus global pandemic.
“A very limited number of pilgrims from various nationalities who already reside in Saudi Arabia, would be able to perform it.
“This decision is taken to ensure Hajj is performed in a safe manner from a public health perspective while observing all preventative measures and the necessary social distancing protocols to protect human beings from the risks of associated with this pandemic and in accordance of the teachings of Islam in preserving the lives of human beings.”
However, the statement added that “Saudi Arabia’s top priority is to always enable Muslim pilgrims perform Hajj and Umrah safely and securely.”
