Gov. Uzodinma’s Convoy Attacked in Imo, Not True – Govt Says

The convoy of Gov. Hope Uzodinma, whose election as the authentic Governor of Imo State was recently reaffirmed by the Supreme Court of Nigeria has been attacked by some youths.

The youths attacked his convoy during his visit to Mmahu in Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.

The Governor had visited the community to pay a condolence visit to the families of some victims who lost their lives during a truck crash in the area.

Police sources in the state said some unidentified persons attacked the governor’s car, while he was inside the palace of the traditional ruler of the community addressing stakeholders.

However, the state government denied the report, saying that  the governor was not attacked by youths in the area.

The government source explained that one of some aggrieved youths who wanted Gov. Uzodinma to address them on the activities of some oil companies in the area threw a stone at the governor’s official vehicle, where they were parked and in the process smashed the rear glass.

The source, however, disclosed that the person who threw the stone was swiftly arrested by security operatives.
