The Chairman of the Transition Committee (T.C) of Nsukka Local government Area, Hon. Chinwe Ugwu, has received an award from the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), for the excellent manner in which she has ran her just-three-months administration.
In a plaque to the Chairman which was signed by the Chairman of the Nsukka branch of NULGE, Comrade George Ngwu, on behalf of workers of the council, the workers thanked Hon. Ugwu for paying their salaries and allowances promptly.
They also appreciated her for rehabilitating urban and rural roads as well as the local government Secretariat, fencing of the Secretariat, purchasing of transformers and other laudable achievements made since she assumed office.
Specifically, the workers commended her for building conveniences for them and above all, for building a befitting restaurant to take care of their stomach infrastructure.
The workers also expressed their unflinching support for the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
The State Government, they noted, has provided amenities for the rural populace.
The workers therefore wished Governor Ugwuanyi as well as Hon. Ugwu God’s guidance in his efforts to better the lot of Nsukka local government area and Enugu State and her future endeavours respectively.
NULGE also handed over a life cow to Hon. Ugwu through the State President, Comrade Kenneth Emeka Ugwueze (JP) who was represented by the Deputy State President, Comrade Udeagha Ani (JP), in recognition of the marvelous way she has “turned the fortunes of the people of Nsukka around”.
This is the first time a labour Union is awarding a plaque of honour to a Chairman who has served out her tenure in the history of the local government.
In his speech, the NULGE Chairman, Nsukka branch, Comrade George Ngwu, described the council boss as “a good bride to the workers of the local government council”.
Responding, Hon. Ugwu said she was filled with unquantifiable joy and commended the workers for their appreciation of the little contributions she had made as the Chairman of Transition Committee.
Earlier, the T.C. Chairman and members of the Committee conducted the NULGE officials round the two projects in the Secretariat which were subsequently commissioned by the State President of NULGE, Comrade Ugwueze.
