Kogi Election: Tukura Canvasses Support for Yahaya Bello, Charges Kogites on Peaceful Election

By Emmanuel Daudu

A chieftain of the ruling the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bassa local Government Area of Kogi State, Comrade Peter Tukura has said that the November 16, 2019 Kogi State governorship election is an election that has made Kogites remain cautious in readiness to exercise their political franchise.

According to him, Governor Yahaya Bello is the rightful candidate to lead the state after a clinical and methodological consideration of the entire candidates presented by other political parties.

Comrade Tukura who spoke in Abuja while addressing Journalists, said “His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, is a leader who has passion for the state and I tell you, his achievements can’t be over emphasized.

“His Excellency’s first term in office has shown clearly reasons why he deserve a second term,” he added.

He revealed that Scanning through the Kogi State political macrocosm, no governor has engaged the youth directly as Governor Bello has done. The Governor has a blue print in building future leaders that will take the State to the next level.

“His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, is a detribalized governor that embraces all the tribes that make up the State which is evident in the distribution of appointments of which Bassa LGA sons and daughters were not left out.

A vote for APC will surely bring the desire change we expect in Bassa land and Kogi State in general,” he disclosed.

In the same vein, he expressed optimism in the performance of Yahaya Bello if given the mandate.

“I am optimistic that Yahaya Bello would do better than what he has done for the state in his second term”.

However, he advised the Kogi eligible voters to remain peaceful and well-coordinated by going out in mass to exercise their political franchise and not to cause electoral violence.

“Mao Zerong once said ‘Politics is war without bloodshed while war is politics with bloodshed’.

“I wish to admonish Kogi people to embrace peace by voting peacefully and not to cause any form of electoral violence”, he counselled.

Similarly, he cautioned voters to vote wisely, stating that, election is beyond just voting, saying “Colin Powell said, ‘you are not just voting for an individual in my judgment, you are voting for an agenda.

“You are voting for a platform. You are voting for a political philosophy, in this light, I urge Kogites to vote for an agenda that would transform Kogi State to what it should be, and in my own Judgment Alhaji Yahaya Bello is the candidate”, he declared.
