Youths under the aeiges of Kogi West for Usman Jibril has declared their support for the governorship ambition of the immediate past Chief of Naval Staff, Usman Jibril.
The Youths Group who converged in Anyigba to pay courtesy call on the former Naval Chief declared their unflinching support to his ambition affirming that he possess the experience and charisma to defeat the current occupant of Luggard’s house.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Comrade Adeboye who is also the leader of the group, said the members which cut across the seven local government areas of the Western Senatorial District have resolved to work for the success Jibril.
He appealed to Retired Rear Admiral Jibril, to come and salvage the people from oppressive system of governance which has made it impossible for the majority to realise their daily bread.
His words” we will project the candidate we are marketing to every nooks and crannies of the state. Enough is enough is our slogan and we say enough to hunger, poverty, suicide, underdevelopment and thuggery. People can no longer feed in the state, civil servants and pensioners are living a miserable lives, our roads are bad, we say enough to all these nonsense’.
Also speaking, the Kogi Local Government Coordinator for the group, Alhaji Salihu Shuaibu who is also the chairman of the Kogi- Koton- karfe Coalition of All Progressive Congress Support Group said the youths have resolved to support the candidature of Retired Rear Admiral Jibril for governorship position under the platform of All Progressive Congress.
He said the present Governor has disappointed the people and it would be too risky to feature him in the next election.
He described the Naval Chief as a maketable candidate with good track records, noting that his efforts in facilitating employment for people, establishment of Naval Base in Banda, barrack in Idah as well as the Naval School in Okura will not be forgotten.
Responding, the former Chief of Naval Staff, Usman Jibril expressed appreciation to the group for their support and described his ambition as a call to service after retirement.
He described Kogi West as an organised people who prided themselves in education and merit stressing that their pattern of votes is deviod of ethnic, religion and party affiliations.
The Naval Chief said the time has come when matured mind must come to the political scenario of the state saying the abysymal performance of Governor Yahaya Ballo has created doubt in the ‘ not too young to run policy’ of the Federal Government.
His words ‘ Kogi is currently the most indepted state in the country with no corresponding progress in infrastructure and life style. The reason for the poor performance of Governor Bello is not far fetched. Bello did not promise Kogians anything. I am forced to reason along after numerous calls on me to join the race. The high rates of death, the high level of poverty, the hostility meted out on civil servants and retirees deserves the attention of a true statemen. Kogians are proud and contented set of people. Of recent, people have resorted to begging which is a clear indication of a directionless government’.
He urged the group to exhibit high level of maturity in all their dealings assuring that the right to life, association and expression has been enshrined in the constitution of the country.
