How Presidency Reacted to Onnoghen’s CCT Conviction

In a reaction to the conviction of the Chief Justice of Nigeria by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) form Nigeria’s seat of power, the presidential villa, President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide on social media, Lauretta Onochie described the verdict as one down, more to go.

The CCT on Thursday convicted Justice Walter Onnoghen and banned him from holding any public office in the country for the next 10 years.

The CCT Chairman, Danladi Umar said that Onnoghen was being charged as an ordinary public office holder and not as a judicial officer.

Apart from being banned from holding public office for the next 10 years, he was ordered to forfeit all five accounts that he failed to declare by him between 2009 and 2015.

Justice Onnoghen was found to have breached the Code of Conduct for public officers.

However, in what seems like a grand scheme, Onochie in her reaction wrote: “Onnoghen convicted. Banned from holding Public office for TEN Years.

“One down, Many to go”, she tweeted.
